George Blair
George Blair is managing consultant at Shared Solutions Consulting specialising in organisational change, developing new ways of working and workforce planning. He has two decades of National Health Service (NHS) experience with Trusts, Workforce Development Confederations, Regional Offices and NHS HQ. With the latter, he led responsibility for patient-focused care and workforce planning. His consultancy experience includes several projects throughout the UK, Africa, and the Near and Middle East.
George is a director of the HR Society and workforce planning and development advisor to the King’s Fund.
He has co-authored: ‘Winning at Change’ (Pitman, 1996); ‘A Real Life Guide to Organizational Change’ (Gower, 1997); ‘Handbook of Teamworking’ chapter on the business environment edited by Roger Stewart (Gower, 1999); ‘Minding the gap: the extent of NHS nursing shortage’, BMJ Volume 325, 7 September 2002.
He has also been responsible for producing ‘Key Issues for Workforce Planning’ for Orthopaedics, Diagnostics, Long-term Conditions and Unscheduled Care, to inform the Local Delivery Planning process in Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire (UK).
